Benefits

Check what benefits and financial support you can get

Benefits calculators

You can use an independent, free and anonymous benefits calculator to check what you could be entitled to. This will give you an estimate of:

  • the benefits you could get
  • how much your benefit payments could be
  • how your benefits will be affected if you start work or increase your hours
  • how your benefits will be affected if your circumstances change - for example, if you have a child or move in with your partner

Moving to Universal Credit and how it could affect you

Universal Credit is replacing these benefits:

  • Working Tax Credit

  • income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income Support
  • income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Housing Benefit

Cold Weather Payment

You may get Cold Weather Payments if you’re getting certain benefits or support for mortgage interest.

If you’re eligible, you’ll get these payments automatically. You do not need to apply, but you may need to tell Jobcentre Plus if you have a baby or if a child under 5 comes to live with you.

The payments do not affect your other benefits.

You’ll get a payment if the average temperature in your area is recorded as, or forecast to be, zero degrees celsius or below over 7 consecutive days.

You’ll get £25 for each 7 day period of very cold weather between 1 November 2024 and 31 March 2025.

If you are pregnant or have a child under 4 years old
