Facilities

There is no age limit.

The main pool and small pool will be available unless otherwise noted. There will be access to the whole pool with no moving restrictions between the pools.

We encourage you to swim widths rather than lengths.

Members and non-members can access lane swimming.

Ropes are used to split the pool into lanes and you can choose from the fast, medium or slow pace lanes, depending on what is most comfortable for you.

Children and young people over the age of 8 can currently attend our lane swimming sessions.

Benefits of swimming

Swimming for 30 minutes is the same as 45 minutes of activity on land.

Steady swimming for 30 minutes can burn 200 to 300 calories.

Swimming:

  • strengthens your heart and lungs
  • improves your aerobic fitness
  • improves your strength and flexibility
  • tones up your whole body
  • burns calories so helps with weight control
  • is a low impact exercise so there is less stress and strain on your muscles and joints
  • is suitable for all ages and abilities
  • relieves stress
  • makes you feel better
  • swimming is fun

Swimming is a great low-impact exercise.

You can swim at an easy steady pace or work as hard and fast at a level of effort that suits you.
