Audit of accounts 2023 to 2024 - notice of public rights

Public notice about the audit of council accounts for 2023 to 2024.

Notice is hereby given that pursuant to Sections 29 to 32 of the Public Audit (Wales) Act 2004:

  • Any local elector may, from Monday 2 September 2024 to Friday 27 September 2024 (inclusive) during the times below: request to inspect and make copies of the accounts of the Isle of Anglesey County Council for the year ended 31 March 2024 and all books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts relating thereto, subject to Data Protection legislation.
  • The draft Statement of Accounts document for 2023/24 will be available for inspection at the council’s Resources Function, Council Offices, Llangefni, Anglesey, LL77 7TW, Monday to Friday 9.30am to 4.30pm.

  • To enable us to make appropriate arrangements for inspection, or send information by post or email, we request that electors make an appointment by email to ClaireKlimaszewski@ynysmon.llyw.cymru or by telephone on (01248) 752602 or by writing to the Director of Function (Resources)/Section 151 Officer, Resources Department, Isle of Anglesey County Council, Council Offices, Llangefni, Anglesey, LL77 7TW.
  • On or after Monday 30 September 2024, the appointed Auditor (Adrian Crompton, Audit Wales, 1 Capital Quarter, Cardiff, CF10 4BZ), at the request of any local government elector of the Isle of Anglesey will give the elector or his/her representative an opportunity to question him about the accounts and any such elector or his/her representative may attend before the Auditor and make objection(s) about the accounts relating to any matter where the auditor could take action under:
    • Section 32 of the Act - namely to apply to the court for a declaration that an item in the accounts is contrary to law and/or
    • Section 22 of the Act – to make a report in the public interest
  • Written notice of an objection must first be given to the appointed Auditor via the contact details above. A copy of the written notice must also be provided to S151 Officer, Resources Department, Isle of Anglesey County Council, Council Offices, Llangefni, Anglesey, LL77 7TW.
