Household Bulky Waste Collection Service: Terms and conditions

When booking a collection of household bulky waste, please be aware of the following terms and conditions listed in the Household Waste Collection Policy.
  • One item is defined as a unit of waste that two people can manoeuvre safely onto a collection vehicle in a reasonable time. To qualify, an item must be no bigger than 2 metres tall / wide and must also be able to fit into the collection vehicle.
  • Small waste objects should be placed into a box, sack or suitable container and this will then be counted as one item.
  • Only the items listed during the original request to the Waste Management Section will be collected. Additional items will not be collected.
  • All items must be presented for collection by 7am on the specified day of collection.
  • All items of waste must be left at the edge of the curtilage of the property, as close to the highway as possible, and presented in a safe fashion which does not cause any obstruction or danger to the public. The collection contractor will not enter houses to collect waste items. The collection point for properties with difficult access e.g. flats, shall be agreed with the Waste Management Section before collection.
  • No commercial or industrial waste will be collected.
  • For the avoidance of doubt, a three piece suite will count as three items.
  • Typical examples of bulky waste that will be accepted under this service include the following: mattress, bed frame, chair, table, fridge, freezer, TV, carpet, hi-fi, cupboard, standard cooker, sideboard, lamp, children’s toy, computer and so on.
  • No hazardous or difficult wastes will be collected through this service, including (but not limited to) the following: asbestos, vehicle parts, large ovens (such as a Rayburn, Aga), whole garden sheds, dangerous chemicals, oil tanks, gas bottles and so on.
  • The Waste Management Section reserves the right to refuse the collection of any waste items that may cause harm or may have an effect on the health and safety of waste collection staff.
  • Householders must inform the Waste Management Section of any waste that may cause harm or have an effect on the health and safety of waste collection staff.
  • If a householder wants to cancel a scheduled Bulky Waste Collection, they must inform the Waste Management Section before 11am on the day prior to the scheduled collection. This can be done by telephone (01248) 750 057 or email waste@anglesey.gov.wales
