Isle of Anglesey County Council

Consultation on strategic plan for Anglesey town centres underway

A consultation which will help shape Anglesey’s town centres is underway.

The new strategic plan intends to set out how the council, and its partners, will work together to address the challenges that face the island’s town centres – Amlwch, Beaumaris, Holyhead, Llangefni and Menai Bridge.

Anglesey Council Leader and Economic Development portfolio holder, Councillor Llinos Medi, said:

“Over recent years, town centres across Wales and the UK have seen very significant changes. Some town centres have been able to adjust and remain vibrant, but others are clearly struggling.”

“It’s essential that we support our town centres as much as we possibly can and that’s why it’s important for the need to develop different ideas and approaches to help them thrive.”

She added, “I encourage all organisations, businesses, and stakeholders to have their say during this first consultation period. Your views will help us develop a new strategic framework, which will support the improvement of Anglesey’s town centres”.

The plan aims to maximise opportunities for improvement and deliver on the aim outlined in the Council Plan (2023 to 2028) to improve the vitality and viability of our town centres.

The adopted plan will form the basis for developing a new integrated placemaking plans for individual towns.
