Two positive Coronavirus cases have been confirmed at Ysgol David Hughes in Menai Bridge.
Parents and staff have been informed and also issued with guidance provided by Public Health Wales.
There is currently no evidence to suggest transmission within the secondary school and it will open for unaffected classes following the half-term holiday (with the exception of years 9-13, who will be following the Welsh Government Coronavirus firebreak guidance).
NHS Wales Test, Trace, Protect has been informed of the confirmed case and relevant pupils and staff have been told to self-isolate for 14 days; and remain alert for any symptoms of the virus, including:
- new or continuous cough
- a high temperature or
- a loss of or change to sense of smell or taste
Those advised to self-isolated should book a Coronavirus test if they develop any of these symptoms, even if they are mild.
Anglesey residents can be book a test by phoning 119 or through the online portal: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/testing-and-tracing/get-a-test-to-check-if-you-have-coronavirus/ before visiting the Coronavirus Testing Centre currently located in Llangefni (and open 09.30 – 16.30 throughout the week).
The testing centre is located at County Offices car park in Llangefni and can be accessed via the Industrial Estate Road (opposite ATS Euromaster, LL77 7JA).
Anglesey’s Chief Executive, Annwen Morgan, said, “The number of positive Coronavirus cases on Anglesey are rising. It is more important than ever to follow Welsh Government and Public Health Wales guidance, especially in relation to the whole household self-isolating if anyone shows symptoms or if advised to do so by a contact tracer.”
“Our main concern remains the wellbeing of our pupils, staff and wider community, and we will continue to work closely with our schools to limit the potential spread of virus. Our thoughts are, of course, with all those affected within our school communities.”
She added, “A Coronavirus testing centre is still available in Llangefni and I would urge anyone showing symptoms on Anglesey to get a test as soon as possible. If you do go for a test, it’s vital that everyone in your household self-isolates immediately until you get your result.”
