Foster Wales Anglesey (Anglesey council’s fostering service) has announced an exciting new initiative to retain and attract more foster carers, providing them with a unique package of benefits.
Foster carers who foster with their local authority on Anglesey will now be offered a 100% Council Tax reduction as part of their financial support package.
Additionally, the improved measures also include a 5% increase to all allowances (Fostering Allowance) and a new increased 3 tier fee structure (Payment for Skills).
The new benefits package is not only aimed at attracting more foster carers but is also to acknowledge the invaluable role current Anglesey foster carers play in supporting local children and young people in care.
The full support package for people who foster with the local authority now includes the following benefits:
- 100% Council Tax reduction
- Competitive allowances and enhanced fees, paid per child, per week
- Free parking in all Anglesey council car parks
- Free leisure centre membership with Môn Actif
- Additional payments such as holiday and birthday allowances
- Access to special discounts and activities for Anglesey foster families
- A dedicated team of experienced staff based in your community
- All the training and equipment you need to get started on your fostering journey
Anglesey’s Director of Social Services, Fôn Roberts, said, “I’m delighted that we are able to provide even more financial support and benefits to our fantastic foster carers across the island. To say that our foster carers do an incredible job is an understatement. They support our looked after local children by offering their skills, empathy, and kindness to ensure they feel safe and secure.”
He added, “I’m confident that with the new benefits announced, and the continued support provided by our highly trained and award-winning fostering team here on Anglesey, our fostering service and community will continue to go from strength to strength.”
