Green waste subscription for 2025 to 2026 now open

Anglesey residents can now subscribe online for the 2025 to 2026 green waste collection service.

Over 15,700 households across Anglesey subscribed for the service last year.

Residents are urged to register online by 28 February 2025, to ensure that their green waste collection pack and sticker arrive in time before the service commences on 1 April.

The annual subscription fee for 2025 to 2026 is £41. This represents a £3 price increase which will help towards covering the rising cost of providing the service.

The annual service entitles households to 26 collections of their 240-litre green bin for grass and other garden waste. Every local authority in North Wales charges a fee for this service.

Head of Highways, Property and Waste Management, Huw Percy, explained, “We sincerely appreciate the ongoing commitment of residents to recycling. It is important to note that green waste collection is not a statutory service and does not receive funding from Council Tax.”

He added, “If individuals opt to not pay the fee, they can still bring their green waste to our household waste recycling centre in Penhesgyn or Gwalchmai – free of charge, or they can continue to manage their green waste through composting”.

Collecting green garden waste will help Anglesey reach the Welsh Government target of recycling 70% of its waste by 2025.

Anglesey’s Highways, Waste and Property Portfolio Holder, Councillor Dafydd Rhys Thomas, added, “We are committed to working alongside our residents to improve recycling rates, lower our carbon footprint, and preserve our island for generations to come.”

He added, “I encourage all residents who wish to utilise the green waste collection service in 2025 to 2026 to register as soon as possible. This will ensure that they receive their registration pack and sticker in good time.”
