The third and final phase of a project to transform a former derelict site into a business park has now been completed.
Thirteen new business units have recently been completed and are now available for let following the expansion of Holyhead’s Penrhos Industrial Estate.
The £6.2 million project was partly funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Welsh Government, following a successful funding bid by Anglesey Council’s Economic Development team.
Transformed over the past two years, the site now provides a total of 23 business units.
Council Leader and Economic Development Portfolio Holder, Councillor Llinos Medi, said, “The successful completion of this project will provide businesses with high quality units offering office space, light industrial and storage use. The Penrhos Industrial Estate will support opportunities to develop the Island’s economy enabling new and existing businesses to grow. The project also supports our aims of creating employment opportunities and economic growth on Anglesey.”
Promoting and developing the economy is one of the six key strategic objectives highlighted in the Council Plan 2023-2028.
Positioned within the centre of the Penrhos Industrial Estate, the new business units boast various amenities:
- Electric vehicle (EV) charging points on site
- Close to A55 expressway and the port
- Approved for B1, B2 and B8 planning use
- Units ranging from 115m2 (1,241 sq feet) to 230m2 (2,483 sq feet).
Economy Minister Vaughan Gething said: “It is great to see the completion of Holyhead’s Penrhos Industrial Estate. Thanks to vital European funding, Anglesey Council and the Welsh Government have been able to upgrade Holyhead’s business infrastructure, helping to provide local businesses with the opportunity to develop and expand.
“The development will help to create good quality jobs and boost the local supply chain on the island, and I look forward to seeing more businesses moving in.”
