Isle of Anglesey County Council

Learn more about a career with the council at the Anglesey Show!

The Anglesey Agricultural Show makes a welcome return next week after a two-year break due to Covid-19.

One of the biggest events on the Anglesey calendar, we’ll be at the Mona Showground, near Gwalchmai, on 9 August and 10 August to raise awareness about potential career paths with the county council.

As the island’s largest employers, the county council provides jobs for more than 3,000 people and offer a range of job and career development opportunities, including plumbers and electricians, librarians, planning officers and IT technicians.

Staff at the council tent will be on hand to provide advice and information about careers and trainee opportunities as well its services and projects. Various activities will also be held during the two-day event.

Our leisure team - Môn Actif – will be busy hosting a number of sporting events for children outside the council tent as well as a special sports area on showground.

Council Leader, Councillor Llinos Medi, said, “I’m delighted to see the Anglesey Show make a welcome return and wish all the best to the Anglesey Agricultural Society, as organisers, all those competing or those who have trade stands at the showground over the two days.”

“Our presence at the Anglesey Show is an opportunity to highlight the many career opportunities we have on offer. Working for the council means you can continue to live and work in your own community. If you’re interested, please come and see us during your time at the show.”

The county council launched its new Môn Future Programme to recruit new trainees earlier this year. The traineeship programme offers successful applicants with opportunities to go on to further education and full-time employment. More information will be available at the showground.

Anglesey Chief Executive, Dylan J Williams, said, “As a county council, we’re pleased to be back at the showground once again, supporting this special event. The Anglesey Show raises the profile of Anglesey, supports our agricultural community and wider economy. The Show’s return takes on an even greater significance after Covid-19, of course, and I would encourage those who have missed it to attend and support.”

You can find the county council at the Anglesey Show on stand 94 and the Môn Actif sports area will be on stand 151.

Volunteers from island’s community radio station MônFM will also be broadcasting from the council’s stand.
