Major works in Llangefni Town Centre between the 11 and 15 March, 2024

The Isle of Anglesey County Council has liaised extensively with Scottish Power Energy Networks (SPEN) to ensure they are able to implement two major schemes in Llangefni Town Centre next week. The effective coordination and timing of these works will minimise disruption and delays to businesses and the public.

SPEN will be carrying out essential works on Bridge Street Llangefni to renew a defective electricity cable. Bridge Street will be closed from the roundabout by Iceland to the clock from 8am on Monday 11 March to 5pm Friday 15 March 2024. The works will be carried out during the daytime. All affected businesses have been informed.

Isle of Anglesey County Council, Highway Service will be resurfacing the carriageway along the High Street in Llangefni from the clock to Llawr y Dref junction. The High Street will be closed to traffic and the works will take place between 7pm and 3am from Monday 11 of March to Friday 15th March 2024. All affected businesses have been informed and signs have been erected to provide advanced warning.

The diversionary route for both road closures will be as follows:

  • From the northern point of the closure, travel along the B5109 to Corn Hir, the B4422 to Rhostrehwfa, the A5 to Turnpike Nant, the A5114 to the roundabout and along the industrial estate road to Bridge Street. Vice versa for traffic travelling in the opposite direction.
  • Road users wishing to travel to Glan Cefni Flats and the adjacent car park will be able to access this location by traveling along Church Street, Lon Refail and Field Street. Egress will be along Ffordd Glandwr and Church Street.
  • The Town Hall Car Park will be open and accessible from Church Street (by the clock) until 7pm each day. The one-way order has been temporarily suspended for the duration of the scheme in order to allow access and egress to the car park.
