Outdoor hospitality will make a long awaited return on Monday (April 26) after the Welsh Government announced businesses in the sector can reopen.
From Saturday (April 24), six people from any number of households will also be able to meet up outdoors.
There are still a number of things we should remember before visiting our local outdoor beer garden, cafe or coffee house.
In order to ensure we do not see an increase in coronavirus cases, please remember the following:
- make sure you book a table before you leave. There may be some queueing at premises so you will be expected to remain socially distanced
- all premises must take your contact details for Test, Trace and Protect teams should they need to contact you. Make sure you have your details readily available
- only 6 people can sit together and you should do your very best to remain socially distanced whilst at your table
- remember to wear a mask when not seated at your table
- do not be tempted to walk to other tables you are not seated at
- you will not be able to stand in a seating area to consume your drink
- treat all staff with respect. They've missed you and want you to enjoy yourselves but abusive behaviour towards staff will not be tolerated
- if you use public transport or need a taxi to or from anywhere on Anglesey or Wales you will need to wear a face mask. Make sure you have one or two handy in case you change your plans at the last minute. Drivers, including taxi drivers, have the right not to take you if you do not wear a mask
- proprietors/landlords must stick to the rules as well so if you’re concerned about any premises contact consumeradvice@anglesey.gov.wales
Anglesey’s Chief Public Protection Officer, Les Pursglove, said: "Re-opening outdoor hospitality is a major step in coming out of the level-4 restrictions but we all still need to remain cautious.
"Coronavirus hasn't gone away even though the number of cases on Anglesey have fallen significantly. We still have to take every precaution to ensure it does not return. Please play your part so we can continue with keeping levels low and enable a return to normal. Enjoy yourselves but please stay safe.
Anglesey Chief Inspector Owain Llewellyn, of North Wales Police, added, "It's been very encouraging to see how well people have responded to the re-opening of the retail sector with very few incidents being reported that required our attention. The opening of hospitality will bring a number of challenges for local businesses and my policing team, please work with us, be patient and together we will have the fantastic summer that we all deserve."
"We all hope to see the same level of responsible behaviour as outdoor hospitality areas re-open. We would of course remind residents and visitors that restrictions remain in place preventing large gatherings both indoors and in public spaces. Whilst we will always seek to engage, explain and encourage, enforcement powers will be utilised where appropriate. Please stay safe and responsible as we all look forward to a successful and better summer than last year."
