Tenants to move into fifteen new council homes in Rhosybol as construction is completed

Tenants will soon begin to move into their new homes as the development of fifteen new Council houses in Stad Marcwis, Rhosybol has now been completed.

The development will help to support one of the Council's priorities to provide quality affordable housing for the residents of Anglesey.

Anglesey’s Housing portfolio holder, Councillor Alun Mummery, said, “This latest project on the former Marquis Inn site at Rhosybol represents our commitment to providing tenants and families with quality homes in communities across the island.”

“The Council's Housing Service has a statutory responsibility to assess housing need and lead on partnership working to provide quality housing on Anglesey. Our Housing Strategy 2022 to 2027 will be integral as we work independently, and with key partners, to continue to meet the needs of our local residents now and in the future.”

Cllr Mummery added, “It’s a pleasure seeing the work pressing forward, this work will not only benefit our tenants, it will also be of benefit to the local building companies who have supported us throughout this programme.”

The new Council houses have been allocated to eligible tenants using the common housing policy, which gave priority to residents local to the Rhosybol area.

Head of Housing Services, Ned Michael, explained, “Over the next five years, we will continue to offer a range of affordable housing options as well as offer advice and support to local individuals and families living on the island.

He added, “The need to have a home has never been more prominent than during the coronavirus pandemic and our work with key partners - including the Welsh Government, Housing Associations and other agencies - will allow us to meet housing needs in local communities.”
