Conserving our heritage

Project summary

Restoring forgotten and deteriorating historical structures in the landscape, and discovering the stories behind them and how they played a role in shaping the landscape

Scheme objectives

  1. Conserve key features of the landscape’s heritage character
  2. Increase local awareness of Holy Island's heritage
  3. Increase community participation in local heritage activities

Activities

Extensive surveys have been carried out on all the structures listed in the development phase documents. These will be shared publicly when available in a suitable format.

Working with specialist’s from Ramboll, the Partnership have appointed Recclesia to carry out conservation works on the following structures:

  1. Ffynnon y Wrach
  2. Tŵr Elin
  3. The Lookout, South Stack

Works will commence in December 2022 and will be completed by March 2023. The Partnership are grateful for the ongoing support of its partners during these works in particular the RSPB.
