Conserving our traditional boundaries

Project summary

This project will restore traditional boundary structures. As the prominent characteristic landscape feature we will focus on traditional dry stone walls, however cloddiau and hedgerows will also be considered if the circumstances opportunity arises.

  1. Restore and manage native habitats to increase resilience and protect against wildlife loss
  2. Conserve key features of the landscape’s heritage character

Activities

Throughout the Summer and Autumn of 2022 traditional Dry Stone Walling training sessions were held on Holyhead Mountain. In total, 185 volunteer hours were recorded by local people and visitors to the area attending the stone walling activities. Participants were given the opportunity to learn a traditional skill whilst protecting the unique Quillet field system near Llaingoch.
