Controlling invasives

Project summary

A project to control the spread and attempt to eradicate terrestrial non-native invasive species which are emerging in Holy Island’s landscape, and threatening both native habitats and historic structures alike.

Project outputs

  1. 75% of priority non-native invasive species on Ynys Cybi under eradication management
  2. 100% of archeologically sensitive sites cleared of non-native invasive species

Project outcomes

  1. Reduced threat to native habitats from non-native invasive species
  2. Eliminate further damage to Holy Island’s roundhouses caused by spread of prickly heath

Scheme objectives

  1. Endeavour to eradicate non-native invasive species
  2. Conserve key features of the landscape’s heritage character
