Activities
Cybi’s Heritage College
In September 2023, the Partnership officially launched Cybi’s Heritage College. The first college of its kind in Wales, and a collaboration with the primary schools and secondary school on Holy Island, the college engages children, young people and local communities in learning about their local history and culture.
The new College will focus on activities that get school pupils out of the classroom to learn about the wealth of heritage on their doorstep using local museums, galleries, landmarks and attractions as a catalyst.
Learning opportunities will be made available through heritage modules where pupils gain credits for participating. The College will extend learning outside normal teaching hours and play a special part in of Lifelong Learning journey of young people living on Ynys Cybi.
Learning activities will link to the New Curriculum for Wales areas of learning, including the expressive arts, humanities, health and wellbeing, science and technology, mathematics and numeracy and language, literacy and communications.
A competition to design a logo for Cybi’s Heritage College was won by Thea Scowcroft-Roberts, a year five pupil at Ysgol Rhoscolyn. Thea used the Penrhos Feilw Standing Stones on Holy Island as the inspiration.

Urdd beach days with all the primary schools on Holy Island. The activities took place on beaches local to the schools and included environmental, heritage and sports.
The children completed litter picks and created local landmarks using natural resources on the beach.
