The UK Parliamentary election will take place on Thursday 4 July 2024. This is also called a general election.

The election gives people the opportunity to choose their Member of Parliament (MP). An MP represents a local area (constituency) in the House of Commons for up to 5 years. 

There will be a choice of several candidates in each constituency. Some will be the local candidates for national political parties. 

The candidate that gets the most votes will become MP for their constituency.
